Well, we had a scary incident over the Thanksgiving weekend. My two dogs always play together, chasing each other around the house and such. They had just finished playing and came into the room my daughter and I were in. I called Zoe over and began to pet her head, when her skin spread apart, revealing a deep gash. It wasn't bleeding very much, but it was such a deep wound. I had to rush her to the emergency clinic, where she had to have her head shaved and several stitches. She also had to have a plastic tube inserted into her head for any drainage. Fortunately, she will be fine, but it was pretty scary.
We don't think our other dog hurt her, but she probably ran under our bed and must have snagged herself on a screw or some kind of sharp angle. We haven't been able to find out what caused it yet, but need to before she gets her again.
Has your dog ever suffered an injury from something in your home? How did you determine what caused it or was there anything you did to prevent future injuries?

My pet has never been injured, but my mother's golden retriever had a potentially lethal holiday incident. They had a small Christmas tree that was made with colorful Hershey Chocolates sitting on a table. Their dog ate it ... all the candy and the straight pins that held the candy to the styraphome. It made her quite ill, but she did survive! With the holidays here, everyone needs to think about the candy dishes and how accessible they are to their furry friends! Jolene in Omaha.
